The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) says funding shortages have forced it to cut food assistance to around 500,000 Palestinians in Gaza, raising fears of worsening hunger as winter approaches. The agency says it is halving food rations, reducing cash assistance and providing fewer cooked meals, despite the continued need for humanitarian support. WFP Acting Executive Director Carl Skau says a massive aid operation has helped push back famine since the ceasefire began, but warns that the progress remains fragile. He stresses that the reductions are driven by a lack of funding, not declining needs or difficulties bringing food into Gaza. For displaced families who have lost their homes and livelihoods, humanitarian aid remains a vital source of food. Community kitchens are also under increasing pressure as families struggle to afford even basic meals.
