The last US troops are leaving Iraq, ending the American military presence there after more than two decades.
The Iraqi government is calling it a historic moment and marking the departure with a two-day public holiday to celebrate its sovereignty.
But September 30 was also supposed to be the deadline for Iran-aligned armed factions in Iraq to lay down their weapons, and there is little sign of that happening.
