Britain’s Labour Party is holding its first annual conference under Prime Minister Andy Burnham in Liverpool, with “Hope Again” as its central message.
Burnham has focused on easing the cost of living, including plans to cap single bus fares at £2 and remove VAT from domestic electricity bills. But his government faces mounting economic pressure as higher energy costs feed inflation and households continue to feel the squeeze.
Burnham is under pressure to set out how his government will tackle these challenges and stimulate Britain’s sluggish economy.
