Manchester City lodges appeal in ‘sham contracts’ case – what do the numbers tell us?

Manchester City was found guilty of over 100 charges spanning almost a decade after UAE vice president, Sheikh Mansour, took over the club.

An independent commission found that the football club used sham commercial arrangements to artificially inflate City’s cost by over £900 million.

The football club lodged an appeal, claiming the verdict “contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact, and is unsafe.”

During the time under investigation Man City secured top players such as Sergio Aguero and won the Premier League eight times.
