Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen since fighting resumed this month, making the dangerous sea crossing to Djibouti, with some rescued after running out of fuel at sea. Having escaped air strikes, shelling and street battles, hundreds of families are now crowded into a temporary shelter in the northern town of Obock.
More than 2,700 Yemeni refugees have now arrived in Djibouti, and authorities say the burden is too great for the small country to bear alone.
For many refugees, Obock offers a measure of safety they no longer had at home, but arriving marks the start of a new struggle, one without shelter, income or certainty, as their future depends on how quickly aid arrives and on what happens next in Yemen.
