President Donald Trump showed no sign he wants a slowdown in the development of AI technology after convening with top tech executives at the White House Tuesday, telling reporters afterward that he would sign an order renaming artificial intelligence “super intelligence” and praising the business leaders he had met with.
Flanked by the tech executives as he addressed reporters in the White House’s East Room, Trump said there was an “unbelievable feeling in this room,” and that the executives “want to do the right things.” Some of them have warned about the dangers of their own technology as episodes of AI agents going rogue pile up, though Trump has opposed any kind of slowdown in the development of the technology.
