Tigrayan forces announced they’ve entered a defensive war against the Ethiopian government.
Earlier, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) said it had seized control of an airport in northern Ethiopia.
The government says the TPLF has also launched an offensive against the army in Afar and Amhara.
Flights have been suspended at the airport in Mekelle – the region’s main connection hub to the rest of the country.
