Ahead of a high-stakes summit between President Trump and President Xi in Washington DC, Taiwan’s vice president has told Sky News the island does “not yet” have sufficient arms to defend itself.
A $14 billion arms deal for Taiwan currently remains paused by President Trump — who has broken with precedent by directly discussing arms sales to the island with China.
Concerns about Trump’s willingness to defend Taiwan come amid record-breaking grey-zone activity in the waters around the island.
