Sky News political editor Beth Rigby was watching the chancellor’s speech this lunchtime, alongside economics and data editor Ed Conway.
Beth said: “I think the most important thing that he underlined was when he said ‘the money we had in the 1990s is simply not there’. Although he’s trying to do this hopeful message, that is the reality.”
While Ed suggested John Healey will have been very conscious of the markets when writing his speech.
