The Saudi-led coalition says it is carrying out a wide-ranging operation targeting the Houthis, an armed group also known as Ansar Allah. It says it has destroyed 136 Houthi military targets and is giving round-the-clock air support to the Yemeni government army and forces loyal to it.

Air strikes hit Sanaa, which is under Houthi control, and there were reports of a loud explosion in the southern port city of Aden, where the internationally recognised government is based.

Al Jazeera’s Yousef Mawry, reporting from Sanaa, says he heard a loud explosion there shortly before his report. In the past 24 hours, he says, the capital has seen strikes at Sanaa International Airport, two factories, and at least four telecommunications sites. Mount Attan was hit by ten air strikes.
