A rise in political killings in South Africa is raising fears that November’s local elections could be among the most violent yet.
One study shows at least 26 people were killed in suspected political attacks in the first seven months of the year.
Some officials believe the violence is being used to reduce competition for sought after councillor positions.

Al Jazeera’s Haru Mutasa reports from Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal, one of the most affected provinces.
