An OpenAI employee has been arrested after a recording device was allegedly planted in a conference room at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco.

According to the report, OpenAI discovered the device on September 30, prompting an internal investigation and an FBI inquiry. Investigators say security footage showed the device being placed in a television’s USB port two days earlier.

The employee, identified in the report as 35-year-old Saudi national Abdul Raheem Alosan, appeared in a US court on October 13. Authorities suspect the device was intended to collect sensitive information, but the investigation reportedly found no evidence that customer information or important source code had been accessed.

The FBI investigation is continuing, and further charges may be possible.
