Gloucester are determined to make significant progress up the Prem table this season and here was a hugely promising first step. The Cherry and Whites had a bonus point on the board before half-time on a breezy afternoon in Devon and had more than enough in the tank to defend a 14-point interval lead and secure a morale-boosting first-day away victory.
Considering they claimed one league win on the road in the whole of the 2025-26 campaign this seven-try fusillade was a major plus, spearheaded by their new Welsh reinforcements, Dewi Lake and Jac Morgan. Lake was the player of the match by some distance, scoring two tries and adding significantly to Gloucester’s efforts in the set pieces and the maul.
