My husband, Cal Swann, who has died aged 91, contributed to graphic design education in the UK and Australia for more than 50 years.
Cal was born in Leicester, the youngest of seven children of James Swann, a caretaker, and Rosina, a singer, and in the 1950s studied at Leicester College of Art, where he was the first student to undertake the National Diploma of Design in Typography.
