Saudi Arabia has carried out air strikes on oil facilities in Yemen, targeting al-Sabaha Central Station of the Yemen Petroleum Company in Sanaa, oil storage tanks at Ras Isa port and another oil facility in Bajil district of Hodeidah governorate. The attacks followed an evacuation warning issued by the Saudi-led coalition, prompting the Ansar Allah Houthis to threaten retaliatory strikes against Riyadh. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree identified King Khalid International Airport and two oil refineries in the Saudi capital as targets, urging workers and civilians to evacuate surrounding areas. No retaliatory Houthi attacks had been reported at the time of the update. Meanwhile, intense fighting continues on the outskirts of Taiz, where Houthi forces are advancing towards Mount Sabr, a strategic defensive position overlooking the city. Forces loyal to Yemen’s internationally recognised government say they have recaptured some territory and are seeking reinforcements and Saudi air support. Despite the counteroffensive, the Houthis continue to advance, raising fears that Taiz could fall under their control.
Al Jazeera’s Yousef Mawry reports from Sanaa.
