A laboratory worker in Russia who may have been exposed to pneumonic plague has died, leading to nearly 200 people being placed under medical observation, according to reports.
The female researcher at an anti-plague institute in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, had died of “pneumonia of unknown etiology” or origin, according to the country’s consumer welfare service on Sunday.
Dr Simon Clarke from the University of Reading told Sky News if the reports are true, they are concerning.
