Cuba’s deepening energy and economic crisis has left much of the country facing prolonged blackouts, alongside shortages of food, water and fuel, with some Havana neighbourhoods going more than two weeks without running water. A US oil blockade and sanctions have further strained the island’s fuel reserves. Despite these hardships, students at Havana’s national ballet school continue their training, with the school’s director voicing concern over the long-term impact of the crisis on the younger generation.
