Northern Ireland: Belfast court reserves judgement on Drumcree parade

A Belfast court has reserved judgment in a challenge to the Drumcree parade, brought by residents who oppose the Orange Order marching through their area. Their case hinges on whether the Parades Commission wrongly read police advice about the risk of unrest. Lawyers called the parade one of Northern Ireland’s most divisive, and questioned why it was allowed back on the route after 28 years. The Orange Order insists it has the legal right to march, while residents say the deadlock is far from over.
