AI is now creating digital versions of real people that are almost impossible to distinguish from the original, promising a transformation of the media and marketing industry.
Daniel Yap, founder of a talent agency that builds “digital twins,” says the technology is improving so fast that it may be undetectable within six months.
Malaysia’s experiments with digital twinning have had setbacks. A government attempt to create an AI version of the prime minister was withdrawn after just a day to fix problems. Still, proponents argue the technology will enhance rather than replace real talent, warning that personalities who don’t participate risk being left behind in a fast-growing AI economy, with Yap saying the goal is to ensure real people aren’t left unrepresented.
