We’re back on the blues and twos as the latest series of the intense Belfast police drama begins. Plus: biscuit week in the Bake Off tent. Here’s what to watch this evening
9pm, BBC One
The Belfast police drama doesn’t mess around. Within the first half hour of the fourth series, we’re treated to an intense set piece that touches on police cuts, the migration crisis, livestreaming culture and the changing meaning of nationalism – all while still working brilliantly as a thriller. Blue Lights’ judgment of the zeitgeist remains impeccable, but its personal touches give it emotional weight, too. Superb. Phil Harrison
