Five men were arrested in Whelford, near the Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford base in southwestern England, on Sunday on suspicion of explosives offences after suspicious vehicles were reported. Assistant chief constable Richard Ocone of Gloucestershire police said armed officers arrested the men after receiving a call around 12.45am regarding ‘three suspicious vehicles traveling towards RAF Fairford’. Authorities set up a safety perimeter of 400 meters around the vehicles and advised residents of approximately 85 homes to evacuate while examinations take place
