Fuel prices across the European Union have reached record levels, adding to financial pressure on households and workers amid the fallout from the war in Ukraine.
Correspondent Rosie Birchard reports from Brussels, where drivers say the rising cost of diesel has made everyday travel increasingly difficult. Trade unions have also organised protests outside EU headquarters, calling for stronger protections for workers as the cost of living rises.
Birchard reports that energy prices have become a major political issue that could influence upcoming elections in countries including France, Italy and Poland.
The broadcast also includes a brief report from northern India, where at least nine people were killed in a passenger bus fire.
