In a pre-recorded address to the United Nations General Assembly, the Palestinian leadership condemns the decision to deny its delegation entry visas to attend the meetings in New York for a second consecutive year.
The Palestinian speaker rejects what he describes as punitive measures and calls on the US administration to lift the restrictions, return to dialogue and support the implementation of a two-state solution based on international legitimacy.
The address focuses heavily on the situation in Gaza, where the speaker accuses Israeli forces of killing, destruction, starvation and displacement, and describes the humanitarian crisis as catastrophic. He also highlights settlement expansion, home demolitions and raids in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian leadership warns that the situation threatens the future presence of Palestinians on their homeland and urges the international community to act. The speech also welcomes Donald Trump’s 20-point plan, UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and a roadmap for the second phase of the plan, while saying its provisions have not yet materialised on the ground.
