Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has addressed the United Nations General Assembly, challenging the ‘terrorist’ label applied to Iran by the United States.
Pezeshkian presented Iran as a victim of terrorism and foreign aggression, displaying photos of children and bombed sites to highlight the human cost of conflict involving the US and Israel.
He said Iran does not seek nuclear weapons but will not give up its right to peaceful nuclear technology for medicine and agriculture. He also criticised what he described as international ‘double standards’ over Israel’s nuclear arsenal and the situation in Palestine and Gaza.
Pezeshkian called for global cooperation and rejected what he described as the ‘language of force’ and sanctions.
