Ukraine launched a massive drone offensive against Moscow and the surrounding region as Russia held the final day of its 2026 parliamentary elections.
Russian authorities said more than 1,600 drones had been intercepted since Saturday, including 450 headed towards Moscow. A facility at the Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district was damaged, while residential buildings and other infrastructure were also hit. At least two people were killed and others injured, according to Russian authorities.
The Russian Defense Ministry said its air defences had intercepted hundreds of drones and vowed to respond. Moscow officials accused Ukraine of attempting to disrupt the election, while Ukrainian officials said the strikes targeted Russian oil and logistics infrastructure.
