Police are investigating a series of killings after nine women were found dead in the Johannesburg area over the past two months.
The cases come as South Africa continues to face high levels of gender-based violence.
The UN estimates that one in three women in the country has experienced physical or sexual violence in her lifetime.
The government classified the issue as a national disaster last year.
